Shutter Mechanism

Purpose of the project is to design a suitable and scalable shutter mechanism for small diameter telescopes. Shutter device has a LUX sensor that is aligned with the focus of the telescope. If the focus of the telescope exposes to a LUX that is higher than a threshold, shutter closes the lens in ¼ a second protecting the sensitive electronics.

According to specifications of the customer, we designed the conceptual model of the shutter. Upon our design is approved, we tested the concept by 3D printing the model. After the tests and feedback from the customer, we prepared technical documentation for manufacturing. In this project, additional to mechanics we also designed, developed and programed the shutter specific controller.
